This beautiful falcon is part of the Raptor Project. She is injured and can no longer live in the wild. The lighting was very bad (indoor, artificial) so I relied on high ISO settings to get a decent shutter speed (no more than 1/200 on each photo). Noise was reduced with Define 2.0
Third Place in #Birds-ClubEndangered Species contest! The Aplomado Falcon is classified as endangered in the United States (not worldwide). It was considered extinct in the US in 1951. Reintroduction efforts are currently underway in Texas.

Very nice portrait of a beautiful animal. The color of the background is very similar to the tones of the bird and creates a soft, warm palette. I like the composition, and one alternative would have been ding this in a vertical framing. But this presentation is totally acceptable. Define did a great job of the noise, but if you also have Color Efex 3, you can use Tonal Contrast, used as a brush as not to upset the background. It will put back the zest that the noise removal took off the feathers. The head position is perfect to allow for good focus in the eye and the tip of the bill at the same time. And although the body is slightly turned to the right, the space is left in front of the face. Good choice. In general, a very pleasing image with impact. The eye speaks for itself.
Thank you for the comment and for asking. You can make a painting, however, if posted online, please link to the original. I see you are new to deviantart - I really hope you decide to submit it here so that I can see it! Even if you do not submit it here, if you put it online, please send a link - would LOVE to see it!
