This past Friday, I was on my third day of my last batch of sugar water. I haven't had any hummingbird visitors all week so I was going to take the feeders down. Then in the afternoon this little one stopped by and hung around until the evening. Needless to say, I made another batch of sugar water and refilled.
My lunch break involved me standing about 5ft away from my feeders with camera in hand. This hummingbird did not mind me there at all! I got my best shots of the season both perched and in flight.

I only do photography as a hobby so I may not give the best technical observations.
I really, really like this shot. I've tried to take shots like this of hummingbirds and can never seem to get them staying still.
The focus, lighting and clarity of the subject is simply stunning ... right down to the noticeable grain in the feathers. The sharp focus on the subject and the soft, out of focus background give this picture an almost 3D look and clearly separate the greens of the bird from the green of the background.

Very well done. Thank you for sharing this.
