Another one of Costa Rica's beauties that looks like our Blue Jay all dressed up for a fancy night out. These Magpie-Jays were hanging out at the entrance to Arenal Volcano. I quickly jumped out of the car (after it parked of course) when i spotted a Toucanet (or Aracari) who I could not find to identify. My attention was then disrupted by this playful bunch of Jays!

This is a beautiful portrait, of a bird I wish lived in the area where I live quite simply cause of its colors.
The detail you have captured and the textures of the feathers are great. I really like how you shot this photo.
You have captured a bird with so much contrast between the light face and the darker wings very well the detail in both light and dark areas are kept crisp and clear.
The foliage around the bird is a bit busy, but a more shallow depth of field might have rendered the bird out of focus too. I think this was a good compromise, that makes the image work very nicely.
Despite the way the foliage is so clear in this image the bird sticks out quite nicely due to the nice contrast it has to the green back and foreground.
Very nicely captured, please keep sharing photos like this :D

Your shot is very well done. Capturing the Jay as if it is listening quite nice. Love the background as it allows for the blues to standout.

pretty bird, does the 7D handle noise that well (iso 3200) or do you soften it in cs?

I do have to use a filter to get rid of noise in most of my photos that are over 400 ISO, but other than that, I really love this camera!

I'm saving for 1 now, your very good with the software the pics are great, 1st the camera then the 100-400 lens, I was thinking about going full frame since the mark II price is coming down but then I loose the extra focal length and frame speed

You won't be disappointed. IT holds a good balance for a long lens that you can still hand hold (to a point)
