This was taken from a good distance. I watched as this osprey dipped into the water and then I focused on him to get some after-shots. He ended up flying in the other direction, so this is the closest I got.

My first encounter with an osprey. I'm hoping that next time, I'll get some closer shots to replace this one!

I need to visit there again one day if I am in the area. I was not a birder back then and want to know what I was REALLY missing!

They have redone the area around the lake/pond. They installed a boardwalk type path with a railing around the street side of the pond. The animals are still there... And the rarely used horse track. There is still abundant wildlife there! Well worth a visit.

Ahhh, yeah! Just before I left the pond was being worked on. I had a disappointing last few weeks with that park because of it. Are the Egyptian Geese still around?

Yes I think I have seen them there. It is a great place for photography and wildlife. Another great park is Spring Lake Park in S. Plainfield.
