Rock Ducks by mydigitalmind Rock Ducks by mydigitalmind
Will I ever get enough of these beautiful ducks? Every time I go to Barnegat I seem to get better photos of the Harlequin Ducks.

Relax, Harley. She is also a Histrionicus histrionicus duck, that being the Latin name for Harlequin, the genus we call ourselves. She is carrying on like that because she wants to have kids. Obviously she has no clue that we are gay! Keep turning your back on her. She will get the message soon enough. ^__^

Best shot of Harleys I've seen yet. :D Though the two shown below are close. The only shots I get are from afar and they're bobbing on the waves. I never see them on land at all. :(

Thank you! I've been very lucky the last couple of times I went to go see them.

I had the chance to get some better shots yesterday. It was funny...a close bundle of four ducks, like they were following the leader. Loons, buffleheads, an eagle, goldeneyes, scoters, the works.
You're welcome!

nice grouping and posing, the sun was a bit brighter and warmer for this pic, and as a result so are their colours. fabulous birds, you are very lucky to be able to see them so close up.

The sun being out makes a lot of difference - even the water appears much bluer. I almost had to DE-saturate it to make it not look like I changed the color!
