1117,Speaking of M.Doves, one visited my window ledge this afternoon and chilled there for about twenty minutes(helping itself to both seeds & cracked corn!!!)!!! I'am hoping in the future to be serenaded by a pair of mournful cooers!!! D
1117,Terrific Pic!!! Unlike Starlings(they're not even a native species, some idiot from Europe brought them across the Pond!!!)I love Mourning Doves, those soul- ful coos & whistling wingbeats...a couple visited my feeders and window ledge frequently but I haven't seen them for a number of years... !!! D-bert
I loooooove the wing beat. I think my resident doves (I have two pair) are even getting a bit used to me. They were always so shy and now they don't fly away as soon as they see me. Yay! I read that these guys are usually a nuisance at feeders, but I don't see it. All they do is hang out on the ground and eat what has dropped. I have no problems with that!
I hope yours come back. They really are a pleasure to have a quite the "hidden" beauty.
