In my area, the return of Junco's are a sign that winter is coming (in case you lost track of time...). These little birds are usually foraging for food on the ground by the number. I never know how many are actually in my yard until something scares them off and I see a dozen gray birds with white accents flying off. I think some of my regulars are getting used to me - these birds were very skittish when I first saw them. These are the birds that keep my cats going nuts - they love to hop around my lower deck.
Taken from my deck.
