Winter Junco by mydigitalmind Winter Junco by mydigitalmind
In my area, the return of Junco's are a sign that winter is coming (in case you lost track of time...). These little birds are usually foraging for food on the ground by the number. I never know how many are actually in my yard until something scares them off and I see a dozen gray birds with white accents flying off. I think some of my regulars are getting used to me - these birds were very skittish when I first saw them. These are the birds that keep my cats going nuts - they love to hop around my lower deck.

Taken from my deck.

=chik1117 has a gallery full of many creative shots that are angled in such a way that sparks an emotion. The description of the image only adds a bit of flare for extra effect.
"Winter Junco" by =chik1117 shows a small little bird that, as stated, tells us that the ever wanted winter is coming once again. This small little bird appears to just be taking a little break from exploring and just hanging about, just enough in sight to be a little model for =chik1117. Even a fluffy, sparrow-like bird such as the Junco can be such an inspiration to photograph, even to unexperienced photographers. Any bird can be, but one this small and docile is a very agile bird, and may be difficult to catch on camera, but =chik1117 has captured it... and quite beautifully, I might add.
Please, look around =chik1117's gallery. You won't be disappointed~

I know, I know. I would have liked at least her feet to be in focus :) Thanks for the tip!

Great shot!! Stopping down some may (though maybe not) have gotten the feet in focus

You know, that's exactly what I thought while I was prepping this image. I could have sacrificed giving it higher ISO for the focus. I'm just not quick enough in my prep (yet)

Yes  My feeder used to be set up on my deck. After every fresh snowfall you could always count on a thousand sets of junco footprints :D
