A young night heron rests along the Raritan River.
I waited patiently for him to wake up from a nap and it did pay off - though he went back to snoozing five minutes later. While waiting, a great blue heron flew onto a tree above this guy, but there were too many branches in the way to get a good shot.
Species: Black-crowned Night Heron (juvenile)
Location: Johnson Park, Piscataway, New Jersey
